Give a one of a kind gift this year or celebrate a personal milestone by learning how to add calligraphy to a clear ornament! It'll feel special every year it's placed on the tree and will be a gift everyone is sure to love.
What you'll need:
- Paper and a printer
- Gold Paint Sharpie Marker
- Clear fillable ornament
- What you'd like to fill your ornament with (I used feathers)
- Hot glue and a glue gun
First you'll need to type up and print off what you'd like your ornament to say. For example, I was making ornaments for our parents as it's their first year being grandparents and placed the year below. Once it's printed, you'll need to cut it out.
Open up your ornament and place your cut out paper on the centre of each half. You'll then trace over the words with your paint sharpie. I prefer calligraphy to be slightly whimsical, so I use the printed design as a place holder and make my loops bigger. Now that you have your words outlined, you'll need to let it dry and go over it a few times until all the streaks are gone.
Optional: You could make it thicker on the vertical part of the curves to give it more definition.
Repeat this step onto the other half of the ornament so that your design is 360 degrees.
Next, you'll need to fill the inside of your ornament. I used feathers for this one, but I've also filled it with outside tree sprigs with faux snow in other ones. You can get creative with this and can also fill it with their gift if it's small enough!
Once your inside is filled, you'll need to close up your ornament with the provided stickers and hot glue a ribbon to the top.
